Game Review by Alumni Coach, Tim Beebe

The 2008 Portage Central Varsity VS the Alumni

The first annual alumni game held at the Portage Central Soccer Field was greeted with great trepidation by both teams. Could the Varsity lose to the more experienced alumni or would youth prevail?  As for the alumni, they knew that experience win every time but “Will my legs hold out?” The first half was all experience they had ball control and the wind in their sails.
The second half was a toss up, four subs (alumni) to the Varsity ten was the only miss cue (and well maybe the coaching). The Portage Central Mustangs Varsity after the first half settled down and started to play as a great team scoring 4 goals to the alumni 3 goals and held that pose to the end.

The alumni team was made up of the following:

Cassie Beebe               Aurora University                        2007
Heather Best
Aubrey Brown               Covenant College                       2007
Megan Brown                Michigan State University           2006
Ashleigh Carpentier        Western Michigan University       2005
Christine Ketteman         Robert Morris College                 2007
Ellen Molenaar               Hope College                             2005
Siobhan Norman             University of Michigan
Emily Peterson              Western Michigan University      2006
Gretchen Schatz            Grand Valley State University      2007
Christie Tarpley              Northwestern University
Stephanie Walker          Grand Valley State University      2005
Jenna Wenginski           Grand Valley University              2007
Emily Wiegand              Michigan State University           2001
Lindsey Wrege              Michigan State University           2005

Between the two teams there were three sets of sister playing sister and one cousin playing a cousin. Fun was had by all until tomorrow when the aspirin wear off.
