Wednesday, May 6th
The JV Mustangs took on the East Kentwood Falcons Wednesday night at The Mustangs home fields. The Mustangs mercied the Falcons 8-0. The goals were made by Sophomores Shelby Jarvis(2), Ami Parke, Alayna LaPine, and Freshman Cassidy Goldner(3) and Lindsey Mohney. Assists were made by Freshmen Jane Buerkel, Lindsey Mohney and Darby Bennett and Sophomores Cayla Lentz and Danielle Jimenez(2). Great job once again to the defense and Goalie Darby Bennett for another shut out!

Battle Creek Lakeview
Monday,
May 4th
The JV Mustangs took on the
JV Spartans at the the
Spartans home field.
Sophomore Cayla Lentz put
the first goal on the
scoreboard when she took the
ball up and struck the ball
outside the 18 and the ball
hit off the left post and
found the back of the net.
The next goal of the game
was made by Freshman Paige
Bowser after she drilled the
ball into the net. The
score was Mustangs 2 -
Spartans 0 going into
halftime. The Mustangs had
many shots on goal starting
the second half. The third
goal of the game was made by
Junior Taylor Nemeth after
she received a header from
Junior Emily Zoeller.
Things heated up in the
second half when a Spartan
player had a break away and
the Mustangs were defending
their goal and got a penalty
called against them.
Luckily, the Spartans hit
the top post and missed the
penalty shot. Nemeth scored
her second goal of the night
after she brought the ball
down the field after the
penalty kick and put the
ball into the net. Lakeview
did get lucky and got one
goal through at the end of
the game. This is only the
2nd goal scored against the
JV team all year. Great
job to our defense and
goalies! The final score
was Mustangs 4- Spartans 1.

Monday,
April 27th
The JV Mustangs took on the
Maroon Giants at Kalamazoo
Central's fields today. The
Mustangs worked hard in the
downpour of rain. The first
goal of the game was a pass
from Sophomore Cayla Lentz
to Sophomore Shelby Jarvis
and Jarvis put the ball in
the net. Jarvis scored her
second goal of the game
after Lentz took a corner
kick and many of the girls
got their head on the ball,
but Jarvis was the one who
found the back of the net.
The next goal of the game
was made by Sophomore Ami
Parke. Parke got the ball
after the Giants goal kick
and took the ball in and
placed the ball in the net.
The fourth goal of the game
Freshman Lindsey Mohney got
the ball to Freshman Brenna
Reder and Reder drilled the
ball in. The last goal
before halftime was a corner
kick from Reder and Freshman
Cassidy Goldner placed the
ball in the goal. Halftime
score 5-0. Going into
second half the Mustang were
quick to score. Lentz
passed the ball to Sophomore
Alexa Wolfe and Wolfe
dribbled the ball in and
placed the ball in the right
corner. The next goal was
scored by Freshman Nicole
Leffingwell who put the ball
into the goal after the
Giants goalie came out of
the box and left the goal
wide open. The last goal of
the night was a cross from
Sophomore Chloe Westley to
Freshman Stephanie Mellinger
who put the ball in the
goal. The game ended with
another mercy for the
season. Final score
Mustangs 8-Giants 0.

Friday, April 24th
The JV Mustang met up with
East Grand Rapids on the
Mustangs home field Friday
evening. The goals of the
game were scored by
Sophomore Cayla Lentz,
Freshman Paige Bowser,
Freshman Jane Buerkel,
Junior Taylor Nemeth and
Freshman Kayla Miller. The
assists were made by
Lentz(2), Freshman Megan
Magee and Freshman Stephanie
Mellinger. The final score
was Portage Central 5 - East
Grand Rapids 0. Another
great shut out by the
defense.

The JV Mustangs mercied Loy Norrix yesterday 8-0. Goals were scored by Ami Parke(3), Lindsey Mohney, Taylor Nemeth, Paige Bowser, Brenna Reder, and Chloe Westley. Assists were made by Megan Magee, Paige Bowser(2), Cassidy Goldner and Lindsey Mohney. The defense had another great shut out! Keep it up Mustangs!

Portage Northern
Monday, April 20th
The JV Mustangs took on
cross town rivals
Portage Northern Huskies
tonight at the Huskies
home field. The weather
was cold and wet but
that didn't slow the
Mustangs down throughout
the game. The Mustangs
pressed hard the first
half with many shots on
goal, but were not able
to get one through. The
score at halftime was
0-0. After a good
halftime talk the
Mustangs came out strong
once again and were
finally able to put the
ball in for a goal.
Sophomore Cayla Lentz
took a corner kick and
curved the ball in and
Sophomore Shelby Jarvis
used her body to finish
the ball off into the
net. The next goal of
the game was once again
a corner kick from Lentz
and defender Freshman
Karlee Shave crashed the
net and placed the ball
into the goal. The last
goal of the game came
from Freshman Jane
Buerkel who dribbled the
ball in and shot the
ball into the top corner
of the net in the last
six seconds of the
game. It was a great
job by the defenders
with another shutout.
Final score 3-0. Great
job Mustangs!

Mattawan
Wednesday, April 1st
The JV Mustangs took on the Mattawan Wildcats Wednesday at Mattawan. The first goal of the game was a cross from Sophomore Cayla Lentz to Sophomore Shelby Jarvis who placed the ball in the net. Freshman Brenna Reder took the ball in with a goal placed on the left side for the second goal of the night. Central was nonstop and Freshman Mallory Duncan passed the ball to Sophomore Ami Parke who put the last goal in for the first half. Halftime score PC 3- Mattawan 0. The Mustangs were not letting down going into the second half. Freshman Jane Buerkel passed the ball up to Parke who put her second goal in for the night. Shortly after Freshman Megan Magee crossed the ball to Jarvis to give Jarvis her second goal of the night. PC kept control of the game and pounded the goal. Freshman Cassidy Goldner took a shot at goal and the ball deflected off of a Mattawan defender into the net for the sixth goal of the night. Freshman Lindsey Mohney was crashing the net when the ball deflected off a Wildcat and Mohney placed the ball in the goal. The last goal of the game was made by Lentz who scored from the 18 just outside the box from a free kick that she drilled into the left corner. The game ended with a mercy of PC 8- Mattawan 0. Once again the JV Mustangs had another shut out. Great job defenders!

Battle Creek Lakeview
Monday, March 30th
It was a beautiful night for soccer as the JV Mustangs hosted the Spartans of Battle Creek Monday night. The JV Mustangs worked hard the first half with several shots on goal. The first goal of the game was from Freshman Paige Bowser, who put the ball in the goal after receiving a pass from Sophomore Cayla Lentz. The Mustangs defense held strong through the first half ending 1-0 at half time. The Mustangs started the second half strong. The next goal of the game came from a cross from Sophomore Shelby Jarvis to Bowser who put her second goal in for the night. The final goal of the night came from Lentz who scored on a free kick that went right through Lakeview's defenders into the left corner. This was the JV Mustangs third shutout of the season. The great defense was lead by Sophomores Alexa Wolfe and Alayna LaPine. The JV Mustangs will meet up with the Mattawan Wildcats on Wednesday.
